An Epithet-Laden Pectoral

Egitto e Vicino Oriente 46 (2023), pp. 7-28.
This article discusses a pectoral that Paul came across while researching artefacts related to Wenennefer, the well-documented 19th Dynasty High Priest of Osiris at Abydos. The pectoral was sold at Sotheby’s New York in 1994 and is currently part of a private collection. Upon closer inspection, it was found that the auction catalogue's attribution to Wenennefer was mistakenly based on the occurrence of the homonymous epithet of Osiris inscribed on the recto. However, the unique combination of pictorial and textual elements on both sides, including two uncommon epithets, sets this pectoral apart from most others, making it worthy of further analysis.
